Warning! [Please Read This Before You (Chemically) Dye or Rinse Your Hair]

About PPD / p-Phenylenediamine
According to Wikipedia: The CDC describes p-Phenylenediamine (also called PPD) as a hazardous contact allergen. The NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards lists possible means of exposure through inhalation, skin absorption, ingestion, and skin and/or eye contact; and describes symptoms of exposure as (including, but not limited to) throat irritation (pharynx and larynx), bronchial asthma, and also sensitization dermatitis. Sensitization is a lifelong issue, which may lead to active sensitization to products including, but not limited to: hair dyes and rinses, black clothing, fur dye, printer ink, leather dye, photographic products, facsimile ink, etc.

And those with sensitivity to PPD/p-Phenylenediamine, also tend to display sensitivity to other Para ingredients such as; paratoluenediamine, aminophenol and 2-nitro-4-phenylenediamine

It should also be noted that one maker of this product states explicitly that (PPD)
p-henylenediamine should not be used directly on the skin, however, they admit that other manufacturers of PPD may or may not warn the same.

Don't be afraid to Police your products! For those who use commercial dyes and rinses, it is essential for consumers to only use or purchase coloring products (for at home use or salon services) that are comprised of less than 15 total ingredients (for both the dye and the developer combined) and are completely free of p-henylenediamine/PPD or other Para ingredients or ammonia or bleach or other harmful ingredients or chemicals.
