| Best Styles for Transitioning or Growing Hair Long! --------------------------------------------------------------When transitioning to longer natural lengths, it is important to avoid use of heat, extensions and chemicals to allow hair the opportunity to recover and rest and accumulate length over time. 1. Non-extension Two-Strand-Twists (for best results, sections should not be smaller than ½-inch wide, and hair should remain in style long enough to ‘rest’ (about 2-3 weeks) before re-styling ; great for textured hair types, esp: 2d, 3cd, 4abc, 5abc, 6ab). 2. Non-extension Flat-Plaits (for best results, sections should not be smaller than ½-inch wide, and hair should remain in style long enough to ‘rest’ (about 2-3 weeks) before re-styling ; great for all hair types: 1abc, 2abcd, 3abcd, 4abc, 5abc, 6ab). 3. Protective Buns (for best results hair should remain in style long enough to ‘rest’ in this style (about 2 days) before re-styling great for all hair types: 1abc, 2abcd, 3abcd, 4abc, 5abc, 6ab). 4. Non-extension Comb Coils (for best results, sections should not be smaller than ½-inch wide, and hair should remain in style long enough to ‘rest’ (about 2-3 weeks) before re-styling ; great for textured hair types, esp: 2d, 3cd, 4abc, 5abc, 6ab). 5. Non-extension Temporary Manicured (Palm-Rolled) Dreadlocks (can be worn for 1-year or longer (about 12-16months) at a time before being taken down; great for all hair types: 1abc, 2abcd, 3abcd, 4abc, 5abc, 6ab) –Important NOTE: palm-rolled dreads can be taken down with metal rattail, but latch-hook dreads are knotted into the hair and must be cut out). 6. Wigs (( Revlon, Raquel Welch, Motown Tress) can be worn over protective styles and/or to allow hair the opportunity to rest, recover and accumulate longer length while avoiding style-related stressors on hair). | |
